Summer is in full swing; the heat starts to set in as early as the first hours of the morning and doesn’t let up until evening. If you can’t seem to find the right time to go for a run or a bike ride, here are a few ideas for working out without suffering too much from the heat and for maintaining your aerobic fitness and muscle tone.
1- ACTIVE FUNCTIONAL TRAINING

All it takes is a little shade! It’s not easy to find cool places to train in the summer, so in this case, 100–150 meters is enough.
Here’s an example of a workout to try:
2- VERTICAL TRAINING

If you’re short on time, choose a very steep trail that you can use for a brisk hike or a run through the city.
If you choose to run, find a staircase that’s long enough—by the time you reach the top, you’ll have already warmed up. Use the stairs to repeat various exercises, such as sprinting, jumping with both feet, or hopping on one foot. Take a break after every 8 minutes of running up the stairs.
3 – SWIMMING

Lake, ocean, or pool—make the most of the water. You can add stretching and strength-building exercises to your pool workout, which you can do in the sports center’s park or on the beach if you’re at the ocean.
Here is a typical swimming workout:
WARM-UP:
400 meters, alternating strokes as desired.
WORKOUT:
50 meters, freestyle, 10 seconds
100 meters freestyle, 15 seconds
150 meters, freestyle, 20 seconds
200 meters, freestyle, 25 seconds
150 meters, freestyle, 20 seconds
100 meters freestyle, 15 seconds
50 meters, recovery style, 1-minute rest.
300 meters of leg kicks with a kickboard
COOL DOWN:
300 meters out in freestyle, breathing every 5 strokes; return in full backstroke.
