The athlete from Lazio, who competes for Atletica Casone Noceto, finished second behind Morocco’s Youssef Sbaai in the 7th edition of the Cagliari International Marathon

At the seventh Cagliari International Marathon on Sunday, May 15, Carmine Buccilli, the star runner of Team Oxyburn, confirmed his status as one of Italy’s top athletes of 2016 by securing an excellent second-place finish behind Morocco’s Youssef Sbaai, but ahead of fellow North African Mohamed Hajjy. With a time of 2h26’53”, the Lazio-based athlete from Atletica Casone Noceto crossed the finish line 1’49” behind the winner, but a full 6’08” ahead of the third-place finisher: With this result, Carmine—who also took first place in the SM category—proved he is in superb form. This was matched by another standout performance of the day from Maurizia Cunico, who is increasingly becoming the “cannibal” of Italian running.
In Sardinia’s only marathon—which this year not only changed its name but also featured numerous new route changes— Carmine Buccilli, wearing his trusty 1480 Running Track Oxyburn, compression socks with Level III compression that he uses in all weather and atmospheric conditions, completed a great race. On a beautiful spring day, he tackled two 10K city loops in the center of Cagliari before passing through Molentargius Park, Quartu, and the Poetto seafront, before crossing the finish line at Molo Ichnusa, where the race’s new start and finish lines had been set up.
