Uphill races and ultra-trails continue to bring joy to Oxyburn, thanks to Ivana Iozzia’s victory in the Re Stelvio Mapei and Maria Ilaria Fossati’s sixth-place finish in the Gran Trail Courmayeur 105k
IVANA IOZZIA – Ivana Iozzia, the three-time Italian Marathon Champion (2005, 2007, and 2012), continues to be in top form: The Corradini Rubiera athlete has, in fact, repeated her 2016 performance by taking first place in the Re Stelvio Mapei in Bormio, Sondrio, which took place on Sunday, July 9. With a time of 1h50’46”, the twelfth-fastest overall, Ivana—the Queen of the Stelvio—finished ahead of two formidable rivals: Arianna Oregoni and Nives Carobbio.

MARIA ILARIA FOSSATI – On July 8 and 9, the Aosta Valley was the setting for the Gran Trail Courmayeur , a 105-kilometer race won by Anna-Marie Watson in 7h52’48”, followed by Viola Varjaskeri in 8h59’01”, and Milena Ghirardi in third place with a time of 9h01’15”: but Maria Ilaria Fossati, the “Queen of Ultra-Distance Races,” also delivered an excellent performance, finishing in an outstanding sixth place with a time of 10h21’58”.
