While Ivana Iozzia wins a grueling 42k uphill-only race in Zermatt, Switzerland, Maria Ilaria Fossati takes the top spot in the challenging 12-Hour Costorio race near Brescia.

ZERMATT, SWITZERLAND – Despite a cracked rib, the result of a fall that occurred during a weekly training session, an incredible Ivana Iozzia won the Zermatt Marathon on Saturday, July 1, a 42k uphill race in Switzerland, crossing the finish line in 3h39’55”, beating second-place finisher Aline Camboulives by 2’40” and third-place finisher Corinne Zeller by more than 26′, who finished in 4h06’01”.

“I wasn’t sure whether to participate,” said the athlete—who has been running inOxyburn graduated compression gear for years—after the race, “because of an injury caused by a fall… I was afraid that running might make it worse. Instead, in the end, I decided to compete: I’m very happy with this victory, even more so because I achieved it by beating Camboulives, the 2015 World Long-Distance Mountain Running Vice-Champion.”

COSTORIO, BRESCIA – With over 100 km covered in 12h05’23”, ultrarunner Maria Ilaria Fossati triumphed on Saturday, July 1, in yet another ultra race of 2017: in Costorio, in the province of Brescia, she won the 12 Hours of Costorio, a race that was“extremely tough, because almost the entire course was on grass and dirt,”as a delighted Ilaria reported after the race. The Oxyburn athlete also finished third overall, behind Giuseppe Tripari (116.790k) and Roberto Campostrini (111.290k).
