100 KM WITH OXYBURN FOR MAURIZIO GHIDINI

There’s no stopping the Brescia-based ultramarathon runner Maurizio Ghidini as he racks up the kilometers. Yesterday, he was a force to be reckoned with at the 100km race in Seregno, after putting his stamina to the test in recent weeks at the 50km race in Siena and the Brescia Art Marathon.

Spain’s Olano Esparza won in 6 hours 47’53”, while Ghidini finished seventh overall in 7 hours 49’06”: he wore Oxyburn gear from head to toe, essential for a top-notch performance like this. Maurizio started off strong, keeping pace with the leaders at a fast pace, but then he hit a bit of a slump and began to feel fatigue during the scheduled 5 laps of 20 km each. But he fought back, hung in there, and made it to the finish line.

What a sight—seeing him smiling and at peace as he set off in the rain at 8 a.m. and seeing him again almost 8 hours later, completely exhausted but still smiling.

He is therefore continuing his training program, which will take him to the Tuscany Trail in late April, the 9 Colli race—over 200 km—and the Magraid in Friuli. These are preparatory races to ensure he’s in peak condition for the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc at the end of August. It’s going to be a real spectacle up there in the mountains of the Aosta Valley, where Oxyburn—thanks to Maurizio—will give it their all.
