In the mood for some mountain running? From South Tyrol to the Gargano, through Tuscany and skirting Slovenia—get ready for a Saturday, the 22nd, dedicated to trail running!

 

After an Easter weekend with very few races, the upcoming weekend will be all about mountain running: it will kick off with a major event taking place in the Val d’Orcia Natural Park, namely the Tuscany Crossing, which will feature two ultra distances—a 103k and a 53k, both starting from Montalcino—as well as a 15k mini trail for less experienced runners.

Starting and finishing at Piazza Santa Maria della Luce in Mattinata, Saturday, the 22nd, will also feature the spectacular Saraceno Trail – Highlights, a 14k mountain running race with 600 meters of elevation gain that will also pass through the ruins of the necropolis located on Monte Saraceno. The race will be followed the next day by the Gargano Raid—80 km with 3,050 meters of elevation gain—and the Mattinata Trail— 34 km with 1,780 meters of elevation gain: all three races will be part of the 2017 Gargano Running & Trekking Week.


Everything is ready in Ornavasso for theOrnaTrail on Saturday, the 22nd—a classic mountain running race that, in addition to the 34k long course with 2,400 meters of elevation gain, will also feature the tried-and-true 12k course with 1,200 meters of elevation gain: New for 2017 is the 8k Nordic walking course with 400 meters of elevation gain.

In the province of Bolzano, in Laives, South Tyrol, it will be the day of the Laives Trail, a mountain running race featuring a 51k ultra course with 2,750 meters of elevation gain and a 21k course with 1,500 meters of elevation gain.

Saturday, the 22nd, and Sunday, the 23rd, will mark the weekendof the Collio di Cormons Eco-Marathon in Gorizia, featuringa 44.3-kilometerEco-Marathon with 1,140 meters of elevation gain on a course that will pass through Italy and Slovenia, a 24.4-kilometer trail race with 780 meters of elevation gain, and an 8.2-kilometer minitrail with 340 meters of elevation gain that will take place entirely on the summit of Monte Quarin. Rounding out the event in Friuli will be three FIASP recreational walks of 3 km, 6 km, and 12 km designed for families.
