Sunday, April 23, 2017, will mark the first of six stages that make up the 2017 Valle Sabbia and Alto Garda Mountain Running Grand Prix circuit: The first stage will be the Grimpeur Race, a trail running event now in its sixth year, which will take place on Sunday, April 23, starting at 9:30 a.m. from Gavardo. As in previous years, the race will feature a course of approximately 12k with a total elevation gain of just over 630 meters, running entirely off-road on trails and dirt roads. Suitable for everyone, even those less experienced in mountain running, the Grimpeur Race will not feature overly technical sections or exposed areas—just scenic viewpoints and a few descents that will require caution.

In Vado Ligure , in the province of Savona , the thirteenth edition of the Trail Aschero will take place on Sunday, featuring three routes of 30k, 20k and 10k, while in Bagno a Ripoli , in the province of Florence , it will be time for the EcoMarathon del Chianti , with three running routes, the EcoMarathon 42k, the Corri in Fonte Santa 28k and the Alla Fonte della Fata Morgana 14k, alongside a Nordic Walking route.

On Sunday, the 23rd, in Trento, it will also be time for the Divinnosiola Ecorunning, Running through vineyards, wineries, lakes, and villages in the Valle dei Laghi, this mountain race features two distances: a 42k course with 860 meters of elevation gain and a 21k course with 590 meters of elevation gain: the half marathon can also be run in pairs as a 10k + 11k relay.
TheMugello Ultra Trail will feature three courses: a 60k Ultra course with 3,200 meters of elevation gain starting from Badia di Moscheta, Firenzuola; the 24k Mugello Trail with 1,280 meters of elevation gain; and two Mini Trails: one 1,200 meters long with 50 meters of elevation gain, and an Ultra course of 2,400 meters with 100 meters of elevation gain.

In Sicily, in Piana degli Albanesi, the Trail della Pizzuta will take place—a 20k race with 1,130 meters of elevation gain that is part of the Ecotrail Sicilia circuit—whileon the Island of Elba, the tenth edition of theUltra Skymarathon Elbatrail 2017, featuring a 52k course with 3,800 meters of elevation gain. Alongside it will be a non-competitive 20k race with 800 meters of elevation gain—the “7,000 Passi”—and a 3k nature walk.
In Cuasso al Monte, in the Varese Pre-Alps, within the Parco delle 5 Vette, the Trail delle 5 Vette will take place—a 28.4-kilometer mountain running race with 1,550 meters of elevation gain—alongside which there will be a 12.5-kilometer Mini Trail delle 5 Vette with 800 meters of elevation gain.
In Lugagnano Val d’Arda, in Emilia Romagna, everything is ready for the Trail del Poggio, a 22k race with 900 meters of elevation gain on a brand-new course, accompanied by a 12k non-competitive walk, while in Bedonia, in the province of Parma, it’s time for the Pelpi Trail, a 23k trail race with 1,230 meters of elevation gain, accompanied by a 10k non-competitive walk.
In Carate Urio, Como, everything is ready for the second edition of the Vertical Lago di Como, a 4.5k vertical race with 1,185 meters of elevation gain, preceded by the non-competitive Monte Colmegnone Walk.

Finally, in Roccamonfina, in the province of Caserta, the “Trail Running Bicincanto nel Vulcano” will take place on a 20-kilometer course with 800 meters of elevation gain within the Roccamonfina-Foce del Garigliano Natural Park; there will also be a shorter 10-kilometer course.
