Diecimiglia del Garda – The Story Behind Oxyburn Products

A 47-year history that not even this unusual sports season has been able to hinder. Perhaps because, from the very beginning, it has been shaped by the tireless Aurelio Forti and the Gruppo Sportivo Montegargnano, which on Sunday, August 2, brought the Diecimiglia del Garda back to Navazzo, on the Brescia side of Italy’s largest lake.

This is an important gesture in support of a movement that envisions a gradual return to competition, right in one of the areas hardest hit by the health crisis—the very same region where Oxyburn was founded. That’s why the technical sportswear brand has chosen to take the field alongside Aurelio—an undisputed legend of Brescia’s running scene—his staff, and the participants on this day dedicated to the passion for running.

In accordance with the regulations approved by the FIDAL Lombardy Regional Committee, a total of 40 men’s elite athletes, 20 women’s elite athletes, and 200 Masters athletes competed in a time trial over a distance of 3 miles (4,800 meters) on a single loop that included road, cross-country, and grass surfaces around the Church of the Assumption. Among the strictly enforced requirements—such as limited registration, temperature checks, and social distancing—was alsothe mandatory use of face masks during warm-ups and upon crossing the finish line.

In addition to the prizes for the top runners, Oxyburn supported the event by providing its own generic protective face mask. Ergonomic and washable, water-repellent and antibacterial, Mask Active creates an effective barrier against microdroplets released from the mucous membranes of the nose and mouth, thanks to its high-tech, triple-density Active Microsponge microfoam panel.

Taking the top spot on the podium was Ahmed Ouhda, an Italian of Moroccan descent from Atletica Casone Noceto—the 1997 Italian champion in the 10-km road race and the half marathon—with a time of 14’12’’, while in the women’s race, Clementine Mukandanga of Rwanda, representing Atletica Virtus Lucca, won in 15’49’’.
