IOZZIA, BUCCILLI, BOuDALIA, FOSSATI: TWO PAIRS OF KINGS AND QUEENS FOR OXYBURN

The intense heat of this scorching July hasn’t stopped running races in Italy… nor has it stopped the victories of the Oxyburn brand ambassadors.

IVANA IOZZIA – Following her wins in Zermatt, Switzerland, and the Re Stelvio race in Bormio, Friday evening, July 14, marked the third consecutive victory for former three-time Italian Marathon Champion Ivana Iozzia, who, in the fast-paced Corri nei Borghi race in Gandellino, in the province of Bergamo, finished first in 14’05”, beating second-place finisher Mara Ghidini by 8” and third-place finisher Federica Zanne by 16”. This performance demonstrates not only her return to superb form but also her remarkable ability to adapt to any type of course, distance, and terrain.

CARMINE BUCCILLIIsola dei Liri, Frosinone: this is where Lazio native Carmine Buccilli, an athlete with ASD Corrialvito, made his outstanding return to competition. On on Saturday, July 15 , won the 26th Castagnalonga, crossing the finish line in 34’22” and beating the second-place finisher—Moroccan Mohammed Lamiri of of Runners Avezzano, and the same margin over third-place finisher Diego Papoccia of Runners Team Colleferro, who also finished in 34’53”, the same time as the Moroccan athlete.

SAID BOUDALIA – He, too, had been away from racing—and from the podium—for some time, but on Sunday, July 16, the Italian-Moroccan runner Said Boudalia of the Cagliari Marathon Club returned to the track, earning a well-deserved second-place finish at La Enego Marcesina. In the province of Vicenza, Said—who finished the race in 1h12’36”—was beaten only by Ousman Jaiteh of Valsugana Trentino, who won in 1h11’05”: Behind Boudalia, trailing by 1’05”, was Roberto Graziotto of Atletica Ponzano, who finished third.

MARIA ILARIA FOSSATIAn excellent eighth-place finish at the Asolo 100km race, featuring approximately 2,700 meters of elevation gain, for the accomplished ultramarathon runner Maria Ilaria Fossati, who on Sunday, July 16, took part in the Monte Grappa Ultramarathon, a course winding through the ruins of World War I. Even though she was running “with the handbrake on”—given the hundreds of kilometers she has been covering— Maria Ilaria finished the race in 11h36’23”; the victory ultimately went to Lorena Brusamento, who finished first in 10h16’54”.
