The pre-race favorite, the Italian-Moroccan runner, triumphed on the streets of Cagliari once again at the 2016 edition of the CRAI CagliariRespira, Sardinia’s most popular half marathon.

The pre-race favorite, first across the finish line: at the ninth CRAI CagliariRespira Cagliari Half Marathon on Sunday, December 4, the Italian-Moroccan Said Boudalia, an Oxyburn Ambassador for many years, lived up to expectations by winning the 2016 edition of the Cagliari 21K with a finishing time of 1h08’07”.
Behind Boudalia were Oualid Abdelkader in 1h09’59” and last year’s winner, Sicilian Michele Merenda, in 1h11’31”.
It was a warm day in Cagliari on Sunday, December 4, with a high of thirteen degrees, lovely warm sunshine, and a gentle breeze—which, as Said noted after the race, worked in their favor and helped make for a fast race.
As always, Oxyburn raced with Said, who wore the 1480 Running Track Level III graduated compression socks during the race, which he then replaced after the race with a pair featuring Level II graduated compression, designed to accelerate post-exercise muscle recovery and reduce lactic acid production.
