In the Belluno race, organized to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Belluno–Feltre Run, the Italian-Moroccan athlete achieved an excellent third-place finish in his “long run” as part of his training for the Boston Marathon.

BUSCHE — “At one point, I thought about going to catch up with Hajjy,” says a smiling Said Boudalia immediately after stepping off the podium at the 2017 La Piave Marathon, “ but then I decided to finish at a relaxed pace: today’s race was mostly meant to be a long run in preparation for the Boston Marathon, which I’ll be running in three weeks. A beautiful course—very hilly, tough, but unique! Personally, I’m used to running on these roads, on these kinds of courses… but man, it was hot! Still, I’m very satisfied with my performance!”

These are the words with which Said Boudalia, an athlete with the Cagliari Marathon Club and a long-time Oxyburn ambassador, described his 42k Piave race, which he finished in third place with an excellent time of 2h25’03”, behind the Kenyan Kagia and the Moroccan Hajjy. Having held second place for more than half the race, Said was in third place at the 30-kilometer mark, with Kagia beginning to pull away: in the end, flanked by two lines of cheering spectators, the Italian-Moroccan local hero crossed the finish line 1’41” behind the Moroccan runner from Atletica Castenaso Celtic Druid and 4’05” behind the Kenyan runner from Atletica Sandro Calvesi.
