MARCO SALAMI, AN EXCELLENT SECOND-PLACE FINISH AT THE GIRO DELLE MURA IN FELTRE
The Giro delle Mura – Cassa Rurale Trophy was won by Ezekiel Kemboi, gold medalist in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2004 Athens Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics, with a time of 26’57’’: behind him was Marco Salami, who led Oxyburn to second place on the podium.

FELTREA fast and spectacular race that came down to the wire on the final lap, when Kemboi, after riding alongside Marco Najibe Salami, decided to accelerate and crossed the finish line with his hands raised: that’s what happened yesterday, Sunday, August 27, 2017, during the Giro delle Mura di Feltre, a race that revolved entirely around the duel between Kemboi and Salami.

Immediately after the start, a small group consisting of Kemboi, Salami, Sammy Kipngetich, and Marouan Razine that set the pace: with two laps to go, the leading group stretched out after Kemboi and Salami accelerated, and as the bell rang for the final lap, Kemboi was still neck and neck with Salami. The final lap saw impressive speeds; Kemboi began to sense victory and, with a powerful surge, gained those few meters that crowned him king of the Giro della Mura for the second time.

Marco Najibe Salami thus secured second place, while Sammy Kipngetich finished third; Marouan Razine and Yohanes Chiappinelli rounded out the top four. With this excellent, yet another strong performance , Salami once again managed to bring Oxyburn with him onto the podium yesterday.
