These are characterized by extremely steep elevation gains and, often, shorter distances.<\/p>\n<p class=\"pos-subtitle\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"pos-subtitle\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1751 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.oxyburn.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/trail_oxy_3b1963f11e9ea79f976b47a00ff20221-300x192.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"192\"><\/p>\n<p>Summer and the heat lead many runners to prefer dirt trails over asphalt during the months of June, July, and August; for this reason, organizers have filled the gap left by the 21k and 42k races with numerous trail running events, mountain races, sky races, and vertical races&#8230; In fact, there are many off-road races during this time of year, and they\u2019re particularly well-attended: they offer a pleasant alternative to the sweltering heat of the cities and the chaos of beaches and lakes, drawing hundreds of enthusiasts into the heart of nature and, perhaps, even leading them to discover beautiful, hidden corners of our peninsula. <\/p>\n<p>This week\u2019s trail running races will actually kick off <strong>on Thursday, the 23rd<\/strong>, with two high-profile events: the <strong>Cortina Skyrace<\/strong> in Cortina d\u2019Ampezzo, Belluno, a 20k race with 1,000 meters of elevation gain, and the multi-stage <strong>Lampedusacorri<\/strong> trail race in the province of Agrigento, a 30k race with no significant elevation gain.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On Friday the 24th<\/strong>, it will be time for <strong>the Mont Blanc Vertical km<\/strong> in Chamonix, Aosta\u2014just 3.8 km, but with a 1,000-meter elevation gain\u2014and the <strong>Santa Caterina Vertical<\/strong> in Valfurva, Sondrio\u20143.1 km with a 1-kilometer elevation gain.<\/p>\n<p>Then, <strong>on Saturday the 25th<\/strong>, also in Chamonix, the <strong>Mont Blanc Trail<\/strong> will take place, featuring a 23k course with 1,665 meters of elevation gain and a 10k course with 325 meters of elevation gain, the <strong>Trail Becca di Viou<\/strong> in Valpelline, a 21k race with 1,200m of elevation gain, and the <strong>Terminillo Skyrace<\/strong>, a 20k trail running race with 1,641m of elevation gain.<\/p>\n<p>Among the trail running races on <strong>Sunday, the 26th<\/strong>, highlights include the <strong>Nirvana Raid<\/strong> in Resegone\u2014a 30k race with 2,000m of elevation gain and a 15k race with 1,000m of elevation gain\u2014 the <strong>Etna Trail<\/strong> in Nicolosi, a 30k race with 1,800m of elevation gain, the <strong>Str\u00e0 Granda Monterosa<\/strong> in Piedimulera, a 30k race with 1,750m of elevation gain, the <strong>Montebore Trail in Garbagna<\/strong>, a 26k race with 1,372m of elevation gain and a 12k race with 700m of elevation gain; the <strong>Monte Chabertondi<\/strong>Cesana <strong>Trophy<\/strong>, a 25.5k race with 2,000m of elevation gain; the <strong>Trail della Duchessa<\/strong> in Cartore, 24 km with 1,000 m of elevation gain, the <strong>Biella Camino Skyrace<\/strong>, 22.7 km with 2,000 m of elevation gain, the <strong>Sulle Tracce del Lupo<\/strong> in Guardiagrele, 14.5 km with 1,250 m of elevation gain, and<strong>the Introbio Biandino<\/strong>, in the province of Lecco, 8.2 km with 980 m of elevation gain.<br \/>\nIn Aviatico, in the province of Bergamo, it will finally be time for the fourth edition of <strong>the \u201cCorsa a Coppie Verso il Cielo<\/strong>,\u201d a 13k race with 500m of elevation gain\u2014a timed trail running race for men\u2019s, women\u2019s, or mixed pairs\u2014that will take competitors from Aviatico to Monte Poieto amid the breathtaking scenery of the Orobic Pre-Alps.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While trail running is one of the most popular disciplines, other \u201clesser-known\u201d mountain running disciplines\u2014such as skyraces and vertical races\u2014are&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":71702,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-71699","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-senza-categoria"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.9 -
