{"id":71318,"date":"2020-10-23T15:57:07","date_gmt":"2020-10-23T13:57:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oxyburn.it\/blog\/at-the-north-east-bike-festival-with-matteo-herbin\/"},"modified":"2020-10-23T15:57:07","modified_gmt":"2020-10-23T13:57:07","slug":"at-the-north-east-bike-festival-with-matteo-herbin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oxyburn.it\/en\/blog\/at-the-north-east-bike-festival-with-matteo-herbin\/","title":{"rendered":"At the North East Bike Festival with Matteo Herbin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The weekend of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northeastbikefestival.it\/\"><strong>North East Bike Festival<\/strong><\/a>, now in its second year, is the perfect opportunity to explore\u2014by bike\u2014the fascinating area between Monfalcone and Trieste. <strong>Mountain bike and road bike trails<\/strong>, events, and booths where you can learn about new products, test both electric and non-electric bikes, and\u2014above all\u2014meet bikers and cyclists from all over Friuli Venezia Giulia\u2014while strictly maintaining social distancing and following all safety guidelines\u2014to share the ride!<\/p>\n<h3>Saturday, October 17<\/h3>\n<p>The event, conceived and organized by Lorenzo Orlando, is dedicated to the ever-growing number of enthusiasts of two-wheeled vehicles and sustainable mobility, and has found one of its <strong>technical partners<\/strong> in <strong>Oxyburn<\/strong>. On Saturday, October 17, I decided to take part in the non-competitive mountain bike ride along the Red Sommaco Offroad trail. Its 25 km route, with 600m of elevation gain, took us on a journey to discover the Monfalcone sites from the Great War in the Slovenian and Trieste Karst regions, between Gorizia and Trieste.  <\/p>\n<p>On this cycling tour, I was accompanied by the exceptional comfort of Oxyburn. The <strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxyburn.it\/product\/5062-mistral\/\">Mistral<\/a> technical jersey<\/strong>, <strong>the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxyburn.it\/product\/6020-raid\/\">Raid-padded<\/a> bib shorts<\/strong>, and the <strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxyburn.it\/product\/1613-thermo-sprint\/\">Thermo Sprint<\/a> merino wool socks<\/strong> made for the perfect outfit for off-road riding, where temperature fluctuations are always significant. My body stayed dry and protected from the cold and moisture at all times, especially on uphill trails. An honorable mention goes to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxyburn.it\/product\/1402-mask-active\/\"><strong>Mask Active<\/strong><\/a>, which is breathable and extremely comfortable\u2014easy to slip into a pocket and then quickly wash along with all my technical gear.   <\/p>\n<p>\u2192 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=KFg91L4nDUw\">Click here to watch my video report on the Red Sommaco Offroad<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Sunday, October 18<\/h3>\n<p>Sunday, October 18, marked the classic <strong>Randonnee<\/strong>\u2014a <strong>non-competitive, open-to-all road ride on<\/strong> road and gravel bikes along the roads of the Gorizia and Trieste Karst, with three different route lengths available. I challenged myself on the medium route, which was about 100 km long with 1,200 m of elevation gain. It was a challenging route, but the fantastic scenery made it all worthwhile.  <\/p>\n<p>\u2192 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=R-eV9Ey--pc\">Click here to watch my video report on the Randonnee del Carso<\/a><\/p>\n<p>With winter approaching, I\u2019ll be focusing on functional training at the gym and short outdoor runs and mountain bike rides, alternating with road biking on the rollers on rainy or cold days.
