{"id":71300,"date":"2021-11-08T11:31:29","date_gmt":"2021-11-08T10:31:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oxyburn.it\/blog\/moving-is-a-way-to-love-yourself\/"},"modified":"2021-11-08T11:31:29","modified_gmt":"2021-11-08T10:31:29","slug":"moving-is-a-way-to-love-yourself","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oxyburn.it\/en\/blog\/moving-is-a-way-to-love-yourself\/","title":{"rendered":"Moving is a way to love yourself"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Exercise is important, and it&#8217;s not just us at Oxyburn who say so.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/bjsm.bmj.com\/content\/55\/19\/1099\"><strong>British Journal of Sports Medicine<\/strong>,<\/a> a British medical journal specializing in sports, reveals that physical activity is essential for our physical and psychological health; furthermore, it may be one of the key factors in combating COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers, led by Robert Sallis of the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in California (United States), analyzed data from January through October 2020 on 48,440 people who contracted the virus, with the aim of determining whether there was a link between lack of exercise and hospitalizations, severity of infection, and deaths.<\/p>\n<p>Those who exercised less than 10 minutes per week were classified as &#8220;inactive&#8221;; those who exercised less than 149 minutes were classified as &#8220;somewhat inactive&#8221;; and those who exercised more than 150 minutes per week were classified as &#8220;active.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>People who were inactive or minimally active in the two years leading up to the pandemic were more than twice as likely to be hospitalized and had a 73% higher chance of being admitted to the intensive care unit, compared to those who engaged in physical activity for a duration equal to or greater than that recommended in U.S. guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>This is one of several studies conducted over the years that have demonstrated the importance of physical activity and sports for people\u2019s health and quality of life.
